Local roots.
An international
model.
Montera is Europe’s first Sustainable Smart Village and first rural Startup Society: an ecosystem that brings tradition and technology together, designed from day one to be replicated. The pilot in Bărbălani, Argeș, Romania, is the foundation of an international network of small boutique villages, developed under a franchise model.

A village built
for what comes next.
Montera sits on land that has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic, through the Geto-Dacian civilisation, to the village of today. On this land we are building a new model for rural life.
To create prosperity for the community, partners, suppliers and the people who work here, starting from what the place itself produces: hospitality, events, food, craftsmanship and knowledge.
Europe’s first sustainable smart village: traditional Argeș architecture built to the nZEB standard, with its own energy, water, food and technology. A model replicated internationally through franchising.
The people who
stand with us.
Montera is built not only where land meets technology, but on the people who believe in the project and contribute their experience and resources.

The Pavel family
The Pavel family embodies the values the Montera village is built on: family, roots and the courage to do things differently.
danielpavel.com ↗years of combined experience delivering complex projects. A board built to take the Montera model into an international network.

We built
before we asked.
no investor capital
More than 80% of everything at Montera today was self-funded, and the rest came from partner support, with no investor capital. This is the foundation the village is built on.
Core infrastructure is already on site.
Getic Cross and Rădăcini Argeșene have brought visitors, athletes and families to the Montera site. Getic Fest 2027 is next.
Argeș County Council, Cuca Town Hall, the Embassy of Japan and dozens of companies have already backed our projects.
Seven families have committed to move in and build the village, each with a clear role: farms, workshops, sport, education, an online shop and food production.
